What is a Melonex bolus?
A Melonex bolus is a livestock form of the meloxicam brand. A bolus is a large oral dose form, bigger than any capsule, made so a farm animal can swallow it in one go.
Meloxicam is an NSAID. In people it carries a boxed warning for heart attack, stroke and stomach bleeding (MedlinePlus, meloxicam). FDA approves it for dogs, and warns that repeated doses can kill cats (FDA, pain relievers for pets). How cattle are treated is for a vet to answer, not a supplement site.

Who doses a Melonex bolus?
The vet who treats the herd decides who gets a bolus and how much. Dosing depends on the animal's weight, health and use, and on rules for animals that enter the food supply.
