Melonex dosage: how much is in each capsule?

Quick answer

The Melonex dosage on the label is one capsule a day with an 8 oz glass of water, and up to two. Each capsule holds a 500 mg blend: citrulline malate between about 167 and 500 mg, arginine AKG at most 250 mg, arginine HCl at most 167 mg. Two capsules give 1 g of blend, well under the 3-24 g trials used.

The label dose01

What is the Melonex dosage on the label?

The Melonex dosage is one capsule a day with an 8 oz glass of water. The label adds that you may take up to two capsules daily, and it says not to exceed the recommended dose.

No time of day or meal rule is printed. One capsule is one serving, 60 to a bottle.

The label wording, as printed: "As a dietary supplement, take one (1) capsule daily with an 8 oz. glass of water. May take up to two (2) capsules daily."

Searching for meloxicam?

"Melonex dosage" searches often mean the meloxicam painkiller sold as Melonex in South Asia, for people and animals. These capsules hold no meloxicam. We give no dose for that drug or for any animal: ask your doctor or vet. See Melonex vs meloxicam.

Per capsule02

How much of each ingredient is in one Melonex capsule?

One Melonex capsule holds 500 mg of blend, but the label does not print each line's amount. Only ranges can be worked out, from the order of the names.

A proprietary blend lists its parts from most to least by weight and shows only the total (21 CFR 101.36, blends). In Melonex the order is L-citrulline DL-malate, then L-arginine alpha-ketoglutarate, then L-arginine HCl.

So citrulline malate holds between about 167 and 500 mg a capsule. Arginine AKG holds at most 250 mg, and arginine HCl at most 167 mg.

The three lines of the Melonex proprietary blend, in label order. A blend lists ingredients from most to least by weight (21 CFR 101.36, blends), so in a 500 mg blend of three, line 1 holds at least 167 mg and line k at most 500/k mg.

The math03

How are the per-capsule ranges worked out?

The ranges come from one rule: each line weighs at least as much as the line after it. With three lines sharing 500 mg, that rule sets a floor for the first line and a ceiling for the other two.

No lab result is published. These are the widest limits the label allows, and the real split sits inside them.

  1. Line 1 floor

Citrulline malate is the largest share. It cannot be less than an even third, about 167 mg.

  2. Line 2 ceiling

Arginine AKG cannot outweigh line 1. At most it ties it, which caps it at half the blend, 250 mg.

  3. Line 3 ceiling

Arginine HCl is the smallest. At most it matches the other two, so a third, about 167 mg.

  4. Arginine together

Lines 2 and 3 share whatever line 1 leaves. Since line 1 holds at least 167 mg, the two arginine forms hold at most about 333 mg.

Per day04

How much does Melonex give you per day?

At one capsule a day, Melonex gives 500 mg of blend; at the two-capsule limit, 1 g. Every range doubles; none gets tighter.

An even split is the simplest guess: about 167 mg of each line per capsule. At two capsules, that is about 333 mg of citrulline malate and about 667 mg of the two arginine forms.

Each weight includes its salt partner: malate, alpha-ketoglutarate or hydrochloride. So the citrulline and arginine inside are lower still, by an amount the label does not give.

Dose vs research05

How does the Melonex dose compare with doses used in trials?

The Melonex dose is far below every studied dose. Read generously, two capsules reach a third of the lowest citrulline dose. They reach a sixth of the lowest arginine dose.

Citrulline trials used 3 to 9 g a day and found a drop of about 4.1 mm Hg in systolic pressure (Barkhidarian 2019, citrulline meta-analysis). Arginine trials used 4 to 24 g a day and found about 5.39/2.66 mm Hg (Dong 2011, arginine meta-analysis). No trial has tested Melonex itself.

  • L-citrulline (line 1)

At most 33% of the low end at 2 capsules
    1 capsule, even split0.17 g
    2 capsules, even split0.33 g
    2 capsules, most the label allows1 g
    About 3-9 g a day in blood pressure trials3-9 g

Not printed: line 1 of a 500 mg blend of 3, so 167-500 mg a capsule. (Barkhidarian 2019, citrulline meta-analysis)

  • L-arginine, both forms (lines 2 + 3)

At most 17% of the low end at 2 capsules
    1 capsule, even split0.33 g
    2 capsules, even split0.67 g
    About 4-24 g a day in blood pressure trials4-24 g

Not printed: lines 2 and 3 share what line 1 leaves, at most 333 mg a capsule. (Dong 2011, arginine meta-analysis)

Red bars: what 1 or 2 capsules can hold, in grams. The label prints only the 500 mg blend total; we show an even split (about 167 mg a line) and the most the label order allows. Gold bars: daily amounts used in blood pressure trials; the light extension shows the range. The weights include the salt partners (malate, alpha-ketoglutarate, HCl), so the citrulline and arginine inside are lower still.

Safety06

Should you take more Melonex to reach a studied dose?

No. The label says do not exceed the recommended dose, which is two capsules a day at most. Trial doses are research figures, not targets for a capsule product.

Arginine and citrulline can add to blood pressure drugs, nitrates and erectile-dysfunction drugs, so more is not safer (Mayo Clinic, L-arginine). Pregnant or nursing mothers, anyone under 18 and anyone with a medical condition should ask a physician before any dose, as the label says.

Keep taking prescribed medicine

A dose chart for a supplement is never a reason to change a prescription. Show your doctor the label first. Daily routine tips are on how to take Melonex.

Dose and supply07

How long does a bottle last at each Melonex dose?

A 60-capsule bottle lasts 60 days at one capsule a day and 30 days at two. The sales page counts its supply at two a day, so its "60-day supply" means two bottles (Melonex sales page).

Dose changes the daily cost too. On the 6-bottle pack, that is about $0.82 a day at one capsule and $1.63 at two. On the 2-bottle pack, it is about $1.32 and $2.63.

The whole label is typed out under supplement facts, and every pack is compared on Melonex pricing.

FAQ08

Melonex dosage questions

How many milligrams of arginine are in a Melonex capsule?

The label does not say. From the blend order, the two arginine forms together hold at most about 333 mg a capsule, and that weight includes the AKG and HCl salt partners. The pure arginine is less.

How many milligrams of citrulline are in a Melonex capsule?

Citrulline malate holds between about 167 and 500 mg a capsule, because it is listed first in a 500 mg blend of three. Part of that weight is malate, so the citrulline itself is lower. The exact figure is not published.

Is there a Melonex dosage chart by body weight?

No. The label gives one direction for adults: one capsule a day, up to two, with no per-kilogram dosing. A mg per kg chart under the Melonex name belongs to the meloxicam drug, and only a doctor or vet can dose that.

Why does Melonex not print each ingredient amount?

Melonex uses a proprietary blend, and federal rules let a blend show only its total weight with the ingredients in order of weight (21 CFR 101.36, blends). Buyers are left with ranges, not exact amounts.

Can I take one Melonex capsule in the morning and one at night?

The label sets no time of day, only a daily total of one capsule and up to two. Splitting two capsules across the day stays within that total. Take each with an 8 oz glass of water.

Would four Melonex capsules reach a trial dose?

Do not try it. The label says not to exceed the recommended dose of up to two a day. Even four capsules would be 2 g of blend, still short of the 3 g low end of citrulline trials, and more arginine adds to drug interactions (Mayo Clinic, L-arginine).

Does the Melonex dose change for older adults?

The label gives the same direction to every adult and no age-based dose. It asks anyone with a known medical condition to consult a physician first, which covers many older adults.
