Melonex ingredients: the 500 mg blend, line by line
Melonex ingredients are three amino acid forms in one 500 mg proprietary blend: L-citrulline DL-malate, L-arginine alpha-ketoglutarate dihydrate and L-arginine HCl, listed from most to least. The capsule is hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, with microcrystalline cellulose and magnesium stearate as helpers. The label lists no herbs, no stimulants and no single amounts.

What ingredients are in Melonex?
Melonex contains six label lines: three amino acid forms in a 500 mg blend, then a capsule shell and two processing aids.
The blend lines are L-citrulline DL-malate, L-arginine alpha-ketoglutarate dihydrate and L-arginine HCl. Tap a filter to see the blend or the other ingredients on their own.
- 1L-Citrulline DL-MalateBlend line 1 · about 167-500 mg per capsule
- 2L-Arginine (Alpha-Ketoglutarate dihydrate)Blend line 2 · at most 250 mg per capsule
- 3L-Arginine HCLBlend line 3 · at most 167 mg per capsule
- 4Hydroxypropyl methylcelluloseThe capsule shell: a plant-cellulose (HPMC) capsule, not gelatin
- 5Microcrystalline celluloseA filler made from purified plant cellulose that helps the powder flow and fill evenly
- 6Magnesium stearateA flow agent used in tiny amounts so powder does not stick to machines

Profiles02
What does each Melonex ingredient do?
Each blend line feeds the nitric oxide pathway. Citrulline is turned into arginine, and arginine is what the body uses to make nitric oxide (Cziraki 2020, arginine-NO pathway).
The fourth card covers the capsule and helpers, which carry the blend but do no work of their own. Tap a card to open the full profile.

Amounts03
How much of each ingredient is in one Melonex capsule?
The exact amount of each ingredient is not printed. Only the 500 mg total is, so the label order sets the limits.
Line 1, citrulline malate, holds between about 167 and 500 mg. Line 2 holds at most 250 mg and line 3 at most 167 mg. With an even split, each line holds about 167 mg.
| Label line | Place | Per capsule | Amount used in research | Evidence |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| L-Citrulline DL-Malate | 1 of 3 | about 167-500 mg | About 3-9 g a day of L-citrulline in blood pressure trials; 3 g or more before exercise in sports studies (Aguayo 2021, L-citrulline review) (Barkhidarian 2019, citrulline meta-analysis) (Schwedhelm 2008, citrulline kinetics) (Trexler 2019, citrulline exercise) | Small blood pressure drops in some trials; mixed |
| L-Arginine (Alpha-Ketoglutarate dihydrate) | 2 of 3 | at most 250 mg | About 4-24 g a day of L-arginine in blood pressure trials (Mayo Clinic, L-arginine) (Health Library, Arginine) (Dong 2011, arginine meta-analysis) (Cziraki 2020, arginine-NO pathway) | Small blood pressure drops in pooled trials |
| L-Arginine HCL | 3 of 3 | at most 167 mg | About 4-24 g a day of L-arginine in blood pressure trials (Mayo Clinic, L-arginine) (Dong 2011, arginine meta-analysis) (Khalaf 2019, arginine and citrulline) (VINTAGE MI trial, JAMA 2006) | Small blood pressure drops in pooled trials |
Worked example: two capsules with an even split give about 333 mg of citrulline malate a day. Citrulline trials began at 3 g (Barkhidarian 2019, citrulline meta-analysis). The step-by-step math is on the dose check.

What are the capsule and other ingredients for?
The other three ingredients hold and move the blend. They are not active ingredients.
- Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose: the capsule shell, made from plant cellulose rather than gelatin
- Microcrystalline cellulose: purified plant cellulose that helps the powder fill evenly
- Magnesium stearate: a flow agent in tiny amounts; FDA lists it as generally recognized as safe (21 CFR 184.1440, magnesium stearate)

Not on the label06
What is not in Melonex?
The label lists no herbs, no stimulants, no vitamins and no meloxicam. Melonex is not the painkiller sold under the same name in parts of South Asia (MedlinePlus, meloxicam).
Safety07
Are Melonex ingredients safe with heart medicines?
Not always. Arginine may push blood pressure too low with blood pressure drugs, nitrates or sildenafil, and Mayo Clinic advises against it after a recent heart attack (Mayo Clinic, L-arginine).
Citrulline was well tolerated in short studies (Aguayo 2021, L-citrulline review), but it feeds the same pathway, so the same care applies.

FAQ08
Questions about Melonex ingredients
Is the Melonex capsule vegetarian?
The shell is hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, a plant-cellulose capsule, not gelatin. The label does not say where the magnesium stearate comes from, and it carries no vegan or vegetarian seal. If that matters to you, ask the order desk before buying.
Does Melonex contain caffeine or other stimulants?
No. The label lists only the three amino acid forms and three capsule helpers. There is no caffeine, no herb and no stimulant on it. Any jittery feeling is worth mentioning to your doctor, since that is not an expected effect.
Why does Melonex use two forms of arginine?
The label does not say. Both lines deliver the same arginine once the partner, alpha-ketoglutarate or hydrochloride, comes off. Together the two arginine lines hold at most 333 mg a capsule, because line 1 must hold at least 167 mg.
Does Melonex contain watermelon extract?
No, not according to the label. Citrulline takes its name from the watermelon plant (Aguayo 2021, L-citrulline review), but Melonex lists L-citrulline DL-malate, a purified amino acid form, not a fruit extract. No fruit, juice or plant powder appears anywhere on the label.
Could a Melonex capsule contain an unlisted drug?
The label lists no drug, and no lab report has been published either way. FDA has found hidden sildenafil in some products sold for sexual enhancement (FDA, hidden drug notice). Buy only through the official checkout, and report any odd reaction to your doctor.
Can I take Melonex with another arginine or citrulline product?
Check with your doctor first. The amounts add up, and the label says not to exceed its dose of up to two capsules a day. Two products feeding the same pathway can stack with blood pressure medicine (Mayo Clinic, L-arginine).
Which ingredient makes up most of the Melonex blend?
L-citrulline DL-malate does. It is listed first, so it holds the largest share: between about 167 and 500 mg of each 500 mg capsule. Part of that weight is the malate partner, so the citrulline itself is less.
